Shandur Polo Festival starting On 29th July 2017 will be managed by Pak Army

Shandur Polo Festival is tentatively planned to be held on 29th to 31st July 2017. This festival invites thousands of visitors to enjoy traditional free style polo among teams from Gilgit and Chitral. Apart

from the Polo matches, folk dance, music, campsites and an adventurous travel to Shandur via Gilgit-Baltistan or Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are also experienced.

The first tournament played on this ground was in 1936 by a British political agent Major Cobb. Shandur Polo is played an the top around 3700 meters above sea level. 

Polo teams of NLI, GBPWD, GB Police have already departed to Shandur. This year the festival will be hosted by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan mutually under Pak Army.
